Choosing a consent tool
Is a self-hosted plugin better than a hosted service?
It depends on what you value. Hosted services add a third-party script and store consent records on their servers, which is convenient but means one more processor to list in your privacy policy. A self-hosted plugin keeps everything on your own site and has no page-view limits.
Why doesn't Cookie Consent Banner include a cookie scanner?
Scanners produce long automated lists that most site owners never read. We focus on blocking scripts correctly before consent and on Consent Mode v2, which is what regulators and Google actually check. You still need to list what you use in your cookie policy.
Can I switch from CookieYes or Cookiebot?
Yes. Deactivate the old plugin, remove its script from GTM or your theme if you added it manually, install Cookie Consent Banner and set your colours. Because it auto-detects GTM and GA4, there is nothing else to configure.
